[Introduced January 30, 2002; referred to the

Committee on the Judiciary.]
A BILL to amend article two, chapter twenty of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated section six-a,
relating to permitting persons licensed to carry a concealed
handgun to carry the weapon while hunting and while engaged in
other activities where a firearm is otherwise prohibited.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That article two, chapter twenty of the code of West Virginia,
one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by
adding thereto a new section, designated section six-a, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 2. WILDLIFE RESOURCES.
§20-2-6a. Carrying a concealed handgun.

Any person licensed to carry a concealed handgun under the
provisions of section four, article seven, chapter sixty of this
code may carry a handgun in a concealed manner while in or on a
motor vehicle or while hunting, hiking, camping or otherwise
afield. The provisions of this section do not exempt a person
licensed to carry a concealed handgun from possession of any
hunting license or stamp as required by the department of natural
resources regarding the type of game or firearm while actually
hunting.

This section is new; therefore, strike-throughs and
underscoring are omitted.
